Immediate surgical intervention to save a fortieth lady from intestinal angina

12 / Mar / 2017

A fortieth lady suffered from severe pains in the abdominal area as a result of acute intestinal angina that caused damage in 40cm of tissues of the small intestines , she was in intolerable pain so she headed to ALMOOSA specialist hospital  where we immediately intervened surgically to remove the damaged portion of the small intestines.

DR-ELLIE HAKMA – General and Laparoscopic Surgery consultant at ALMOOSA specialist hospital stated that myocardial infarctions happen because of blood coagulation in the arteries as a result of Deposits of cholesterol on the arteries walls, these deposits could decrease the blood flow and cause pain in the chest or angina, this angina may prevent blood flow in the artery permanently causing Attacks or strokes.

Normally, digestive system contains 20-25% of the blood pumped by the heart and this amount multiplies after eating, the healthy heart deals effectively with these data and continue to pump blood to the digestive system but it differs in cases of major arteries stenosis that restricts blood flow to the intestines causing intestinal angina

DR HAKMA added that clinical examination and angiography detected that the patient had intestinal angina that caused the death of 40cm of her intestines .So, he decided to intervene surgically to remove this part to save the patient’s life.

In spite of the gravity of this delicate operation our qualified medical team managed to perform the surgery successfully with Close follow-up of the situation during and after the surgery.

After removing the damaged part of the intestines, the pain vanished completely and the patient had an intensive course of treatment until she left our hospital healthy and satisfied.
